Top Five Tuesday: Music To Movie

I'm sure someone will argue against this, but in my opinion, as great film is supported by equally great, if not utterly amazing music. Think about Lord of the Rings or Braveheart. A main part of the former is feeling absorbed into the world. When The Fellowship is in Lothlorien, that ethereal music just sucks you right in, while in Braveheart the bagpipe-heavy music is appropriate to the time and location. To that end, I thought I would make a list of five songs that when I hear them, this is the movie that immediately comes to mind.

Five Songs That Remind Me Of A Specific Movie

1. "The Pretender" by Jackson Browne - Mr. Holland's Opus
2. "La Vie en Rose" by Louis Armstrong - French Kiss
3. "You Can Leave Your Hat On" by Tom Jones - The Full Monty
4. "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry - Back to the Future
5. "Night Moves" by Bob Seger - American Pop

Just a quick five this morning as I wind down from yesterday's migraine.

As a follow-up, those are some great movies. If you haven't seen them, get to it.

I've only seen Mr. Holland's Opus once and it was ages ago so I'm definitely due to see it again. We just watched 'Benny and Joon' since Branden had never seen it and I saw it once a long, long time ago...great film :)

It's hard to listen to some David Bowie songs for me without thinking of the guy who sings in Portuguese in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Is it possible to hear "Tequila" and not think of Pee Wee's Big Adventure? And I shall ever associate "Stuck in the Middle" with ear dismemberment.

When I hear the "Cantina Band" I instantly think of that scene in Star Wars...

Excellent picks. I've been hearing Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" a lot lately, and every time I hear it, I think of The Stand.
