Thanks for the comments yesterday. They helped.
In fact, they helped so much that last night I outlined for over two hours. While they need to be fleshed out quite a bit with some more characters and maybe a secondary story line, the whole thing was a rousing success.
What started as the outline for one idea became the second book in a roughly outlined trilogy. That's right. One idea became three books. That's never happened to me before.
The second and third idea were then outlined. While doing so, it became clear that idea two wasn't as long as I anticipated. Not a big deal. It wasn't until I was outlining idea three that it became clear that number two and number three were part of the same story. Outlines merged, and the whole story came to shape.
That's about when I passed out.
There's still a short story idea rattling around in there, but it wouldn't come to fruition. Such is life.

I've had those days where one idea sparked another, and luckily enough they flowed together, and next thing you know, a novel is born. Or short story. Love those moments when they take up residence in my imagination.
