The What Now?

You've all seen them before.

Sometimes you'll see them and go, "What the hell?"

Maybe they go unnoticed.

Like this ad I saw on Facebook yesterday:

Umm...what does the image have to do with the title? The answer: not a damn thing. And yet these kinds of images and titles are matched up in ads all the time. For absolutely no reason.

Since The Walking Dead is coming back on Sunday, I went to add a book I'd heard about to my Amazon Wish List. That would be The Walking Dead Compendium Volume 2. I took this screenshot because...wow:

It's a book, yes? I think we can all agree on that one. Yet, at the very bottom, in the yellow section, there is a warning about a "Choking Hazard." Umm...what exactly comes with this book that it could be a choking hazard? Maybe it you're trying to feed it to a bear or something.

This one isn't so much a "What the hell?" as it is a "What the hell is wrong with me?" In this image, you'll see a white line. My brother shared the part above the white line. The part below is what I read:

All I could say is "Tired Brain is tired."

That about sums up the week.

Have great weekends, all. And be sure to come by Monday for my installment in "The Nineties Blogfest." Movies galore!!!

To be fair, "Walk away or try murder" makes for a better slogan :)

I agree with Jamie!
Now I want to know about the choking parts...

Yeah I also agree with Jamie, "try murder" is much better than "try harder", the second slogan is certainly the best one!

Ha! I can't even figure out what that picture in the game tester add is., a buttocks of some sort? I was more shocked by how cheap the compendium is than that you could choke on it. Besides, maybe Mick Jagger is reading it and gets a lil' hungry. And if that's what you read into that picture, please choose the "walk away" part.

only two more days till the zombies infest us again.... And I will be having something uber sweet for you, Joshie, on Tuesday as well :)

Is that muscle tattoos in that gaming ad? And just because you are a game tester does not make you a designer...

Maybe the choking hazard warning is for the zombies that might read the compendium? They aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

And your slogan definitely makes more sense. That's probably what whoever originally wrote it wanted to say, but they were afraid to come right out and say it.

Well it's about time they put warning about eating books. It's a real issue! ;) Seriously, I'm not saying we should kill all the stupid people. We should just take off the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

I have had two bears choke to death on books. I am so glad that warning label in there so I don't get sued this time by a forest ranger.

I know! I know! You can use the book to choke someone since, you know, it's a deadly book. Ha.

Also the problem is, now i will always read that as "Murder".
It's like, you've spread some horrible disease.
And by horrible i mean humorous and mildly inconveniant, but still. Thanks a lot typhoid mary

I had a moment this week where I had to decide to walk away or tell somebody to go eff themselves. For once in my life, I chose the fun option. It felt good!!

People are always saying in reviews "I devoured this book in one sitting" so maybe the choking hazard pertains to them :)

I'm always amazed at what advertisers come up with for slogans. Sometimes they are awesome, sometimes I wonder where the connection is.

"Try murder" is starting to become a serious contender for solving one of my ongoing problems.

I find myself insanely curious about the chocking hazard.

Sadly, I have not been brave enough to watch The Walking Dead.

I guess the murder is for when you're too tired of trying harder.
