I Never Would Have Guessed That

It was a busy weekend and starting off to be an equally hectic work week. I meant to have something more for you today, but sometimes plans go off the tracks. So, just one thing this morning.

I snapped this at a community garden yesterday while there for a baby shower. The weather was perfect, and I walked through the plants to see what people were growing (yes, I asked first and was told that I could). I thought someone was growing flowers, but I didn't know until this morning that this is the flower of an okra plant. Never in my life would I have put those two things together. Crazy, and gorgeous.

Have a great week, everyone. Get some rest if you need it, stay healthy, and be well.

Okra - as in, the vegetable?
The weather is even more awesome today - high in the mid-fifties!

I know next to nothing about plants and flowers. But I can gasp and say "No way! Crazy! I never would've guessed that either" if you want :)

Huh, who knew? Quite frankly I didn't know anything about how okra grew and only knew of its existence about 5 years ago. Can you deep fry the flower too?

We grew Okra as kids... I don't remember it having a flower like that.

Hunkered down in the house, attempting to disinfect the entire house AGAIN. Oldest is still sick, here's hoping my immune system is the stuff legends are made of. *sigh* Someone hand me the Lysol wipes...

I hate okra with a passion, but grow it because of the flowers and foliage. They are stunning, aren't they? I have a few different varieties that produce different colored blooms and always give the okra to my neighbors.

I should have recognized this; my dad used to grow okra (I love fried okra btw). It is pretty.

I'm so happy the weather has cooled down here. Nice to be outdoors once in a while.

Wow, I would have never guessed either. Okra is the only thing Branden doesn't like. Other than that he'll eat anything...including live grubs once...

Pretty flower but I hate okra...yuck! Yes, I'm that immature, lol..

Odd that such a gross veggie would have such a pretty flower.

I would consider growing okra if it looked like that - just to look at though, not to eat. Yuck.

Okra? Wow, that's gorgeous. Onions have very pretty flowers, too.

I could see a woman wearing one of these in her hair, lol!
