Washed And Dried

As you may have noticed, I didn't post on Friday. I gave myself a three-day weekend to get some rest and get things sorted out. Quite honestly, I could use another day. That's how it is with kids in the mix. Friday, though, I surprised The Girl at her school and had lunch with her class. I grabbed a six-inch sandwich from Subway for her and I to split. She was ever so thrilled.

The Wife took half the day off from work, and we had a nice lunch together and a not-quite-lazy afternoon, but it was still good.

Weekends are busy around here these days with soccer and dance and work events and still having to do laundry, dishes, clean, cook, and many other things. Rest could have been more, but it was still some rest. I did manage to finish Deadlight on the Xbox Live Arcade to 100%, which means I can now move on to something else. Before I do, I recommend this game to any players out there. It's a 2D, sidescrolling, post-apocalyptic, zombie, puzzle game. Damn, that was a mouthful (TWSS). Some of the dialogue is strange and unnecessary, but the gameplay itself far outweighs that fact.

In other news, apparently I'm horrible at taking care of my SkullCandy earbud headphones. To be fair, the first pair lasted a good year until one wore out. By wore out I mean the encased wire had just had enough and would only work if you messed with it. Since they are only $10, I felt they had served a long time, so I bought a new pair of them. That pair lasted a few weeks before one of the earbuds snagged on something and the wire snapped. Enter pair number three. The earbud end fell out of my pocket and I closed the door on them, where they went bouncing between the road and the underside of my car for a few miles. My current pair has lasted a good three months. Until...

...I left them in a pair of shorts from the gym, and sent them through the washer and dryer. A testament to their design and manufacturing, they still work. I'm not sure how long they will last, but I'll keep enjoying them for now.

After all that, they still work? Dude, they should have you giving a testimonial as their commercial.

My earbuds always end up a tangled mess. And compared to you, I'm a total bum on the weekends.

Pickleope - I wonder if I can get paid? Or at least a free pair.

Alex - I envy your lackadaisical weekends.

I washed Paul's Apple ear buds not too long...they still worked! Score.

It's just plastic, rubber, and copper. No reason the wash should ruin them. :)

Samantha - And those ones aren't cheap!

Matthew - You would think that, but I've done it before with awful results. Think melted plastic on the inside of the dryer.

I was SICK all weekend. My sister visited from Chicago, and I missed out on all the fun.

I buy cheap earphones too, as I'm constantly losing them or breaking them. I think if I bought more expensive ones, I might take better care of them (i.e. sunglasses).

I think we all have that one item we cannot keep in good working order. Good luck with the next pair!

Deadlight sounds like my kind of game. :)

Awww, that is so sweet you surprised your daughter. Young enough to still be glad of a surprise visit to her school:)

My ear buds sort of look like yours. How do they get so tangled?!

They remind me of Christmas tree lights...

Jay - I have another sinus infection, so I know what you mean.

Libby - We'll see.

David - It really is great.

Gwen - I'm thinking first grade will be her limit.

fishducky - Indeed they do!

Elisa - Do it!!

I feel like all I do is drive kids to ballet and soccer! And comment on your blog, of course... :)

I love that you surprised The Girl at school! My dad used to send us flowers occasionally when we were in High School and he made sure to have them delivered early so we could proudly carry them around all day! It's the little things that stay in a girl's memory for a lifetime :)

Hey Joshua! Well damn, what did those poor earphones ever do to you?! Are you a serial destroyer? Bad Joshua! BAD! Roth

Everyone deserves a break to relax on the weekends! I'm very impressed with those headphones too!

I like the Skullcandy stuff. It seems to be pretty decent, unless you torture and abuse them like you do. :D I keep telling myself I need to unplug for a day or two. I usually try to on the weekends, but end up at least playing World of Warcraft. XD

That's awesome they still work. Happy to hear you enjoyed your long weekend too.

I love lunch dates with my husband. Somehow they feel more spontaneous than an actual dinner out. Glad you got to enjoy one and a three day weekend.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I was young, drivers' licenses were made out of paper. They weren't laminated. Many people had to replace their licenses regularly because they left the license in a pocket and it didn't stand up to the washing machine. Thank you, Lord, for lamination.

Love,
Janie

I was given a pair of awesome earbuds for my birthday. Think that was the best present I have ever recieved over the last ten years. Along with the MP3 player that was attached to the earbuds.

I thought SkullCandy made decent products?

Hahah! My sister shut her earbuds in her car door once. The whole time we were driving down the highway we were like, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR?? WHY IS IT MAKING THAT NOISE??

Turns out, it was the earbuds hitting the pavement. And they still worked after!
