This Week in Netflix

A short week because of the holiday here in The States, and an incredibly busy one at that. Only one recommendation this week.

Jericho
2006-2008 - Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James, Gerald McRaney
Centered around the small town of Jericho, Kansas, in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities. To be quite honest with you, I can't say anything else about the plot of the show or else the whole premise is completely ruined. What I can say is that they did a fantastic job setting up a quiet town, nice place to live in the few short minutes before all Hell breaks loose. Some really tense moments in the first episode alone. I liked the writing and the characterization. Plus, it's post-apocalyptic so you know I'm in. I don't know how I missed this show when it aired, but I'm sad that it didn't last longer than 29 episodes (and two "seasons" of comics, so far). Ended on a good note, such that I'll be acquiring the season three comics as soon as I can, as well as season four. My only criticism is that season two was only 7 episodes and they had to abandon some of the miscellaneous character plot lines. That said, it was still good. 4.25/5

I was a big fan of Jericho when it was on. I remember when they said they were cancelling it and tons of people sent nuts to CBS trying to keep it on tv. According to Wikipedia - 20 tons of nuts. That's a lot of nuts. Nuts!

Really? So I should have stuck with it? During the first episode, I didn't connect with any of the characters and couldn't hang with the show. I'll have to press through. Do I have to not have an aversion to Skeet Ulrich?

Haven't seen it, but I think it's actually available on some channel over here. Not my cup of tea though.

Hey Joshua! Post apocalypticism is good for me, too. So yep, I'll give this a try sometime! Indigo
