A-to-Z Challenge: F

We just keep rolling forward with this Challenge, don't we? Day 6 it is.

F is for Fraggles.

I loved this show. Hell, I still love this show. It's a timeless classic. Personally, I always liked the Gorgs more, but still, Fraggles are awesome. Not the animated ones, though. Grr...

Let us also take a moment to remember the gifts from Isaac Asimov on this, the 20th anniversary of his passing.

F is also for Frost by Kate Avery Ellison, the book I mentioned yesterday. Go check it out, again or for the first time.

Last bit of news for the day, the Cinema Challenge blog is participating in the A-to-Z as well. Please check out the categories we've chosen so far, our picks for each one, and add your own choices in the comments.

Regardless of whether you're celebrating it or not, I hope none of you have a good Friday. Make it a GREAT Friday.*

Nice guns.

I watched it a few times, but I think I was busy with college at the time.

Jack said...

I've always loved the Fraggles, too! Does this me G is for Gorgs? LOL

Have an awesome Friday!

DEZMOND said...

now this is the first one I like :) I
've never understood the Fragles themselves (glass eating diet WTH?), but I adored Gorgs :) such crazy creatures. The film has been in plan for some years now :)

Fraggles are my wife's thing. I've heard of them, but have never seen them. (No cable + born in '65)

Vodka - The Wife received the complete series boxed set three years ago. The Girl loved them. And I enjoyed them again.

Alex - My favorite part? The only human man in the show was the same guy that played the tourette's bar owner in THE BOONDOCK SAINTS.

Jack - No, G is not for Gorgs. G is for...

DEZ - Actually, those "glass" things they ate tasted like sugar and were made from beets.

Scope - I think they're funny. Funnier when there's a kid watching, too.

Loved the Fraggles. How could I not love more Muppet goodness? Well, the Doozers didn't appreciate the Fraggles eating their construction projects but, they should learn not to build with things Fraggles find delicious. Stupid Doozers.

Samantha said...

I think I was too young for Fraggle Rock by just a few years...but I know of it :)

Emily White said...

Ahahaha! The gun show! I always think of The Anchorman when I hear that.

Joshua said...

Pickleope - Actually, there was an episode where Mokey (with Convincing John's help) convinced all the Fraggles to stop eating the Doozer construction, and the Doozers started to leave because they had no room left to build. A lesson about upsetting the balance of nature. Season 1, Episode 6 "The Preachification of Convincing John."

Samantha - Bree would love them. I can almost guarantee it. And when she does, you can come down to Atlanta to see some of the original puppets that are at The Center for Puppetry Arts. They also have one of the original Skeksis from THE DARK CRYSTAL. It's wicked looking in person.

Emily - I always think "I like scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch."

I liked the Fraggles when I was a kid, but haven't watched in a long time. I should change that.

Your "First comment" on my blog made me chuckle. Thank God this isn't the same crowd as YouTube's commenters. ("First!" and all that.) :P

Joshua said...

Shelley - Sorry again, I only said it because today is F.

I loved Fraggle Rock. But then again, who didn't. My friend gave me a very similar shirt for my birthday last year. It's still my favorite.
P.S. Awesome Asimov mention.

Joshua said...

S.L. - I thought you would like that. I saw something about it this morning and thought, "Yeah, I need to mention this today."

Thoroughly enjoyed The Gun Show.

Joshua said...

Lass - Maybe another day the gun show will really come to town.

Tracy Makara said...

Thanks Joshua...now I'm going to have the Fraggle Rock song in my head all day! LOL I love them :)

fishducky said...

At last--a show this VERY OLD fishducky has heard of!!

Lady Gwen said...

I've heard of the Fraggles, of course, but never watched - yeah, I'm old - not too old for Harry Potter, though! God Bless Asimov!

Cortney Pearson said...

Yay, I loved Fraggle Rock!! I finally know one of your references, lol!! :D

Anna Smith said...

Very cool tee. I have a friend who is scared shitless of the theme tune :)

Did you realize the really lucky bamboo is under your armpit? Is it cuz of your deodorant? :)

Kathleen Valentine said...

I'm afraid I'm a bit old for that show but I love Friday!

Annika said...

Oh wow, the Fraggles... I really like them. But my heart belongs with the Muppet Show (the one from the 70's or whenever they were made, not recent ones and certainly not the movies!) :-). Awesome tshirt.

Christine Rains said...

It's been years since I've seen the show. Never seen that gun show either!

Joshua said...

Tracy - Sorry...I think. Or not.

fishducky - That's because they're timeless.

Lady Gwen - Amen, sister.

Cortney - People love the Fraggles.

Anna - The theme? Weirdo.

Cassie - No, it's because it wasn't watered, two of the stalks died, I tossed the diseased two, kept it clean and watered, then it fell over and broke the arm off. I cut the arm into two pieces and got them to root. It's lucky I was there to take care of it.

Kathleen - Yay Friday!!!

Annika - I was more a fan of the Fraggles than the Muppets. Not sure why.

Christine - Next viewings are at 3, 6, and 9pm.

Oh, how I wish Isaac Asimov was still alive and writing. His books are amazing.

Oh my fraggles. That's a great shirt. I want it!

Shiny. And multipass.

I am so jealous. I love the fraggles. I've been trying to get my daughter to watch it, but she thinks it's lame. I guess it just doesn't live up to Adventure Time (I kinda love that too).

LOVED the Fraggles! Have I told you you're awesome yet? Because you are!

Juli said...

I knew there was a reason I loved you.... in a non-threatening, we're both happily married kind of way.

:)

Joshua said...

vic - Oh stop. {blush}

Golden Eagle - Agreed. Absolutely agreed.

rhi - Excellent! Glad you like this one.

Hope - My kids are not allowed to touch the DVDs. It's one of my things.

Jamie - Takes you back, like...down to Fraggle Rock?

S.L. - Multipass, indeed. ;o)

Tomara - I think the Fraggles are still better than a lot of newer things, but I guess puppets can't compete with Cars or Tangled.

Jaycee - It's catchy, isn't it? I loved having it stuck in my head all day yesterday. And thank you, so are you.

Juli - Understood. :o)

Ishta Mercurio said...

FRAGGLE ROCK! :-D

I liked that show, but my sister LOVED it with a passion. She used to sing the theme song all over the house.

Fun post.

Deniz Bevan said...

Aww, I miss Fraggle Rock! Wish it was on reruns somewhere.

Joshua said...

Ishta - I still love that show.

Deniz - Or you could just buy the boxed set complete series. The in-laws bought that for The Wife four years ago. We watched the whole series with The Girl over two weeks. The look on her face was amazing.
