Comprehensive Ludicrousness

Before we go any further, I'd like to put out this final reminder that the current Cinema Challenge ends late tonight. Click the image to go compete!

More on the Challenge, Hope and I are planning fun things for April, with more posts and fun times. You should come join us now so you don't miss it.

What else?

I actually wrote a short story last night. Shocking, I know. Yes, yes, yes, I'm supposed to be finishing that work I started during NaNo, but that one is at a critical moment in the story and I don't want to screw it up by half-assing it while focusing on other things. It's like my favorite Libertarian Ron Swanson said, "Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing." So, I'm whole-assing the short story and will return to the larger work when it is done.

Now, a show of hands: How many of you are reading this while standing in line waiting to get The New iPad that releases today at 8am local times? Since you're there, can you buy one for me, too? Appreciate that.

If anyone is a fan of the watermelon-smashing comedian Gallagher, send good thoughts his way as he suffered a heart attack before a show last night in Texas. He is listed in stable condition, and I hope he's all right. I remember watching him with my parents when I was a kid and wanting to imitate. Don't remember if I ever did, though. Yeah...you're right...I probably smashed food with a hammer at some point. Love it.

I'm in store for an insane weekend, so if I suddenly drop off the Internet, it's because I'm actually participating in real life and I'll see you on Monday.

I'm not in line, but I am waiting for my new iPad 3 to arrive to day!! Be a total geek out day for me.

That. Video. Is. BRILLIANT.

'tis an epic video. Star Wars cellos make the geek nerves tingle.

I'll wait unti lthe iPad 5 comes out and then grab a discount ipad 3 instead :)

Oh wow. That video made my frown turn upside down. AWESOMESAUCE.

That video is absolutely bad ass. And the music is most excellent as well, especially after the beat drops.

Plus, Wookies.

Alex - Color me jealous, but I'll stick with my Nerd engraved iPad2 for the time being.

Cora - Isn't it though? Amazing what one comment about Yo-Yo Ma playing the cello will result.

Jamie - The iPad5 better have a 26-inch display. And you won't even need touch screen, you just think what you want and it searches or opens or what have you.

Annika - Glad it made you smile. It certainly did the same to me this morning.

Matthew - I'm pretty sure Chewie makes that video. And when he's dancing with Vader.

I wish I was standing in line waiting for the new iPad. I'd be one of those cool kids then I guess...

Joshua said...

Samantha - You already are one of the cool kids. An iPad doesn't make a difference.

Oh my goodness. I must share this video.

Real... what now? Hopefully it's fun craziness this weekend not stress craziness. Best of luck. And yes, that video is beyond great.

Joshua said...

Emily - It truly is epic. I'm so glad she sent it to me. I needed it this morning.

Pickleope - It's going to be stressful. This fact is unavoidable.

Cassie Mae said...

Lol, I watched this last night too. Freakin' laughed my butt off.

Enjoy your 'real' life this weekend. Take your stress ball home. :)

Joshua said...

Cassie - I bought good beer yesterday. This will help.

That video is great! AND YAY FOR SHORT STORIES! That's awesome! Glad the writing bug hit ya in the bum :) Unfortunately, I am not in line for the iPad..

Dear Joshua--What is real life? I've heard this term before. Do you think I would be interested?

Cortney Pearson said...

Awesome video!! :-p

Joshua said...

azia - Damn, I was hoping you were buying me one, too.

fishducky - I don't recommend it.

Cortney - It really is funny.

That's awesome about your short story! Cool video. I'll be doing real life stuff this weekend too. The boy and I will be making rice krispie treats with green marshmellows this afternoon for the St. Patrick's day party tomorrow. I know we're going to end up with green hands. Have a good weekend!

Joshua said...

Christine - Save one of those Rice Krispie Treats for me? Or enjoy it for me. Your call.

Electric cello? Chewbacca? I can handle this much awesome.

The title for this post was great and I'm glad you got some writing done. I'm a Gallagher fan and am sorry to hear that he had a heart attack. I hope he recovers.

I wasn't in line. Have a 2 thru work, and really don't use it.

So, they are releasing something that is incrementally better than the last one? I thought this was a good post about it, to dilute your jealousy.

That's a great video! I love The Piano Guys.

I will also be knee deep in real life this weekend. Sadly, it does not involve buying the iPad 3.

Mynx said...

I still love my original iPad. Maybe one day I might upgrade but not yet.

Cool video. Loved it

Mandy - Yes, electric cello. Looks weird, but sounds interesting. Just like the electric violin.

Anne - It sounds like he's doing okay, but, you know, it was a heart attack.

Vodka - I knew you'd get that one.

Scope - It's certainly a candid stream of comments it that link. They keep mentioning flexibility, but the thought of an iPad that can bend and flex seems pointless. Yes, it would help decrease injury to the unit if dropped, but other than that, what are the practical uses for such a feature? Regardless, does the new iPad change the game? No. Is it faster? Yes. Does it have better cameras? Yes. But those two things are not enough to justify the upgrade. The screen resolution is better, but for the size of the display, there won't be much of a noticeable change for the end user unless they're in the habit of running the display to a large HD TV.

Hope - Yes, yes it is. :o)

Golden Eagle - They are great. I'll admit to having never heard of them before two days ago. Funny stuff.

Julianna - Stupid real life. {grumble}

Mynx - The changes between the iPad and iPad2 were enough that I bought the two when I finally had enough to get the toy. I mean, gadget. Then again, I didn't own the original iPad because you just knew they were going to work out some bugs and come out with a better one.

oh goodness!
i hope gallagher is alright!

Joshua said...

vic - Me, too! So far so good as far as I've heard.

Ed Pilolla said...

i love this. and i got an idea for a poem listening to it (not watching it; i get caught up in the show), so i'll be back to listen several times. thanks:)

Joshua said...

Ed - Excellent news. Glad you found some inspiration from it. And I understand about not watching it. This is why I write while listening to music without lyrics, otherwise those voices can't be heard over the lyrics. Or they start singing along, and that's no good for writing a story.
